~HikariJake's Otaku Glossary~

Don't worry, I'm not one of those people who spam random Japanese words; hell, I don't know much about Japan in general other than some basics. I haven't any desire to live in Japan or anything; I quite like the US so this country is where I'll be staying.
This page will serve as a sort of quick reference for anyone who is scratching their heads over a phrase they don't recognize, but, for the most part, this page is really for comedic purposes and some of the definitions shouldn't be taken seriously. I'll let you decide which ones those are lol.

The otaku culture is weird, and a weird culture breeds weird terminology.
Combined with the internet, the otaku culture is sure to have some phrases that will leave normal people scratching their heads, going, "WTF does that mean...?"
Well, for starters, WTF means "What the f*ck" so now that that's out of the way...

Aniki - big brother

Anime - a chineseJapanese cartoonartform, usually involving tentacle rape of underage girls

Baka - idiot. Typically spouted by tsundere when they're beating their lover to death

BD - Blu-ray disc

Body pillow - my future wife

Canon - the official lore of a story; for example, Light Yagami (from Death Note) being in a non-sexual relationship with L is canon. Light Yagami sucking on L's tootsie pop in a romantic candle lit room is not canon. Thank God

-chan - an honorific (kind of like Mr. or Mrs.) said after the name of a person, ie. "Sakura-chan", usually used to refer to a girl in a friendly and more casual way, but it can be used for boys. It is still a polite way to refer to someone, as most friends in Japan will drop honorifics when referring to someone altogether, or so I've heard. Saying someone's name without an honorific shows a sign of deep intimacy and comfort, at least in romance anime.

Cosplay - when a person dresses up as yugioh or some crap, hell if I know

Doujinshi - porn comics or some garbage, I dunno. Some of them are just comics without the porn. Some of them are video games. Oh, and they're made by fans. And they're mostly porn. I read too much of this crap

Ecchi - the actual Japanese word means "sex", but the ecchi genre of anime is a genre that focuses on cock teasing, aka only showing boobies jiggling and panty shots with girl's asses getting flaunted at the camera, but it never actually goes all the way. Anime with actual sex scenes that contain clear depictions of genitalia and which are meant to provoke extreme sexual arousal are called hentai.

ED - ending theme; the ending credits of an episode

Eroge - a porn video game. Don't worry, the porn is only filler. As if that makes it justifiable

Fujoshi - women who indulge in works that feature gay men buttfucking for sexual arousal

Furry - a term used to describe someone who wants to screw an animal who happens to have the body of a human. Can also describe an animal with the features of a human. Holo from Spice and Wolf does not make me a furry, b-b... BAKAAA

Genderbender - a tranny when a character changes their sex, usually central to the plot of genderbender stories. Or so I've heard, I've never actually read one. Thank Haruhi

H-scene - hentai scene

HB - Hummingbird.me

Hentai - the revolutionary genre of animation about love

Husbando - no one has these so it doesn't matter

Imouto - younger sister

Jailbait - 95% of hot anime chicks; a girl under the age of consent that you really want to stick your dick in (jailbait girls have typically hit puberty and have developed womanly features; otherwise, the girl is jailbait loli and you are a pedophilelolicon)

Jousei - demographic of anime/manga for adult women, but let's be real: barely anyone watches these... other than me

Kawaii - cute. Never say this word. Ever.

Kouhai - underclassman

-kun - an honorific (kind of like Mr. or Mrs.) said after the name of a person, ie. "Sakamoto-kun", usually used to refer to a boy in a friendly and more casual way, but it can be used for girls. It is still a polite way to refer to someone, as most friends in Japan will drop honorifics when referring to someone altogether, or so I've heard. Saying someone's name without an honorific shows a sign of deep intimacy and comfort, at least in romance anime.

Kuudere - a calm, cool, and composed beauty

LN - light novel. Kinda like a novel with some anime pictures sprinkled in here and there.

Loli - your little sister who's in kindergarden an anime girl who has the body of a prepubescent child. Sometimes they are a prepubescent child, and that's when it gets messed up

Lolicon - a child predator aka pedophile who's out to get your hot loli sister an adult who is sexually attracted to lolis

MAL - MyAnimeList.net

Manga - a comic made in koreaJapan

MC - main character

Neko - almost furry; a girl-cat hybrid that people like to stick their dick in

Netorare - me when you're out of town and I spend the night at your girlfriend's place

Nukige - a porn video game. Don't worry, the story is only filler. Now that's what I'm talking about ;D

Onee-chan - a phrase that a younger sibling uses to affectionately refer to their older sister

Onii-chan - a phrase that your little sister says as you're f*cking her brains out a phrase that a younger sibling uses to affectionately refer to their older brother

OP - opening; kind of like the theme song that plays at the beginning of an episode. OP can also mean "overpowered", or, on internet forums, it can mean "original poster"

OST - Original Soundtrack

Otaku - this is a word that has a negative connotation in Japan but screw Japan, here in the West it has been defined as a fan of anime/manga/visual novels/and other weird crap.

OTP - One true pairing; typically done by Tumblr/Fanfiction.net emofaggots who ship (normally straight) characters with the same sex so they can get their panties wet with the thought of Light Yagami butt-f*cking L from Death Note.

OVA - Orignal Video Animation. Basically, direct-to-video anime

Paizuri - when a kind man and a friendly woman love each other so much, the man sticks his peepee in between the nice lady's boobies

Queerbaiting - a term that some sexually frustrated teenage Tumblr cunts created where delusional yuri/yaoi shippers feel betrayed when their gay OTP turns out to be canonically false; it so happens that their 'obviously gay' favorite characters are obviously straight. But these Tumblr morons make it some conspiracy on behalf of the creators, claiming that the creators only added the nonexistent 'gay subtext' in order to draw in the niche LGBTQAAI(with a silent 'f') crowd.

-san - an honorific (kind of like Mr. or Mrs.) said after the name of a person, ie. "Shinji-san", and can be used to refer to either gender. -san is the most common honorific and is the least affectionate (out of -chan, -kun, and -san, at least). It is formal but doesn't show too much respect; you would call a classmate or co-worker by -san, if that makes sense.

Seinen - demographic of anime/manga for adult men

Senpai - upperclassman/superior

Shimapan - white panties with blue stripes... it's a weird fetish

Shoujo - demographic of anime/manga for young-teen girls

Shounen - demographic of anime/manga for young-teen boys

Slice of Life - some genre that anime invented or some crap where a couple of lazy asswipes do f*ck all and jerk it. Well, minus the jerk it part, unless it's a hentai. Usually involves a group of lesbian girls in a world inhabited by only women; men do not exist.

Sugoi - awesome/cool. Never say this word. Ever.

Thigh highs - google Rin Tohsaka; pay close attention to her legs, notably her thighs. Proceed to unzip your pants and masturbate

Trap - a crossdresser who is totally a girl but f*ck that, says Japan, she has a penis!

Tsundere - a bitchgirl with bipolar disorder

Twintails - a niche term used to describe the pigtail hairstyle

Vanilla - I think it means plain old consensual sex. How boring

Waifu - a man's pixelated wife. A man typically buys a large pillow with a cover of their waifu in scantily-clad clothing and rub their dick all over it. After a while sticky fluid comes out!

Weeaboo/Weeb - an annoying faggotspecial person who is literally obsessed with Japan, but isn't actually from Japan, nor do they actually know anything about Japan that isn't related to some sort of anime, for that matter. But hey, anime is all Japan is good for, anyway. Weeb trash will not shut the hell up about how kawaii and sugoi their waifu is. And while normal people bring cupcakes to parties, weeaboos bring f*cking pocky. And pocky is disgusting, and they know it, but hey, their favorite anime character eats pocky so it's f*cking delicious, darnit!

Yaoi - anime faggotshomosexual men

Yandere - a jealous cuntgirl who will kill all of your whoresfemale friends so be careful

Yuri - anime dykeslesbians
